Is it possible to over-oxidize in the potassium permanganate when doing
a retic stain?  We do the Gomori's retic and the procedure here says to
leave in the potassium permanganate (0.5% solution) for 5 minutes.  When
we left it in for only 1 minute our staining seemed to be much darker.
