I was advised to dispose of the charcoal filters as I would biohazard 
wastes like used xylene and  fixatives. These filters have absorbed toxic 
fumes from these solutions and now contain molecules of the various 
solutions along with the carbon. There is enough toxic waste being dumped 
into our landfills that I don't want to contribute to it.
