re: gram stain problem

From:Aidan Schurr <Aidan.Schurr@hvh.co.nz>

More information on our Gram Stain problem:

1. I have tried the "standard" gram method (Gram, 1884), the Gram-Twort method (Twort, 1924) and Lillies modification of Gram's Stain (1965).

2. I use Twort counterstain for all of these, as this is the Pathologists' preference.

3. Gram -ve's stain fine, however gram +ve's are virtually indistinguisable from the -ve's - ie all the bugs seem to stain pinkish.

Any ideas as to the source of my problems?

Thanks again in advance,
Aidan
