RE: Cryostat backup

From:Alan Bright <bright@dial.pipex.com>

Dear Paula,

In the UK when this occurs most of our users have a service contract which
includes the supply of a replacement cryostat if their cryostat cannot be
rectified immediately. I would like to point out that this has only been
necessary on under five occasions from when we first manufactured cryostats
in the mid 1950's. Also with the production of dual refrigeration systems
fitted to most of our cryostats in the last 12 years a total breakdown is
very rare.

May I suggest you check with your supplier in the USA to see if they have
this type of service contract available.

Best Regards

Hello Everyone!

What does anyone do when a back-up cryostat fails? I am a little concerned
about our frozen area. Our primary cryostat has been out for major repairs
and the back-up is very old. Thanks for any suggestions! (And no- we
cannot purchase a new one!)
