There is a website that gives a great amount of information on the
profession, training programs, etc.:
  http://pathologistsassistants.org/

Another route to follow is on the job training--especially if your friend
has been in the field for 15 years.

I too, am very interested in pursuing this path, but will probably go
through an accredited program (there are four that offer a Masters program).
I also hope that some other PAs may respond. I have spoken with Rod Slyter
(thanks Rod!) but would like to talk with a representative group to get a
feel for the different schools and positions that have been held. I would
actually like to take that degree and then put it to use in the
Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry instead of a clinical setting.

We'll see!

Subject: Pathologist Assistant

Where would one find any information on Pathologist Assistant training
programs? I know they are few and far between.

A friend of mine is a Medical Technologist (ASCP) and for the past 15 or
so years has been doing grossing of surgical specimens (under the
supervision of pathologists) and autopsy eviseration. She will be
taught autopsy dissection soon. She is really good and is thinking of
getting the education to go along with the position.
