Correction!
Gayle is absolutely right, as she so often is, that most antigens will be
totally inhibited with aldehyde fixation and in those cases for
immunostaining you must use acetone or in some cases no fixative at all!
Yes, you have to sacrifice morphology in order to get antibody binding!

I was referring to stains which highlight cellular morphology, i.e. H&E,
when I suggested a glutaraldehyde based fixative. Sorry I did not make that
clear!
