Allison,
We use an Alcoholic formalin. The breast are cut and processed the same
day.
As soon as we get the breast we put alcoholic formalin on it and after the
path. sections it we return it to alcoholic formalin. The last person to
leave in the afternoon puts them on the processor. If the specimen comes in
later in the day we add a small amount of heat by putting the cassettes in a
Tupperware bowel and placing it on the mechanical stirrer. By stirring and
heating you have a free exchange of fluids and the heat helps with
penetration.
