Dear Lesley,
DAKO carries a mounting medium designed specifically for preserving
fluorescent signals. The medium dries completely after coverslipping,
forming a solid coating that facilitates handling and storage. Also, I
can assure you that the mounting medium is not expensive, as it costs
about as much as a large pizza with 3 toppings. If you are interested,
