No, I use Periodic acid for the Periodic Acid-Schiff's stain, which I never use
for fungi staining, preferring  Grocotts classic methenamine silver, 
GMS for fungi.  

I DO NOT use periodic acid for fungi staining, I use chromic acid followed by
the Schiff's reagent, and this combination CANNOT be called PAS, it is a 
Chromic acid-Schiff.
