In 1946 Dr. G. Gomori published " A NEW HISTOCHEMICAL TEST FOR GLYCOGEN AND MUCIN" which proposed the use of chromic acid oxidation and silver-methenamine to demonstrate glycogen and mucin.

In 1955 R. Grocott, then the Chief Tech. at Gorgas Hospital in Ancon, Canal Zone proposed the use of Gomori's histochemical test for glycogen and mucin for the demonstration of fungus in his paper "A STAIN FOR FUNGI IN TISSUE SECTIONS AND SMEARS.

A good example of Techs. and Docs working together for the betterment of mankind!
