I have saggital hemisections of 18.5 day post conception mouse embryos and
day 1 neonates. The animals were fixed in 10% NBF. I would like to post
fix the sections in Bouins to achieve the brilliant staining quality seen
with this fixative on such specimens. Would post fixing in Bouins achieve
this?
If so, how long would you immerse the deparaffinized sections in Bouins (4
micron paraffin) before performing the H&E? I considered one hour as with
the Bouins step in a Massons Trichrome, but feel this is too long and for a
different purpose than in the TC stain. I'm thinking more like 10 or 15
minutes at room temperature.

thanks for any suggestions.
