it has been my experience (and i know i've read it somewhere before, just
can't remember where....darn formalin!) that you can't AR slides and them
hold them for later IHC.  the IHC protocol should be started promptly after
cooling.  i'd guess the all the cross-linking you just undid with the AR
reforms.  anyone else out there know the detailed reasons?
you'll probably need to do your AR again when you're ready to "stain" or
just recut the slides and start over.
