And Cardinal has a product called Molecular Sieve - 4494-500ny that works the same way without the carcinogen factor. (At least as far as I know!)Joyce-----Original Message-----From: histonet-bounces@lists.utsouthwestern.edu[mailto:histonet-bounces@lists.utsouthwestern.edu]On Behalf Ofbettina.hutz@orionpharma.comSent: Friday, December 03, 2004 2:52 AMTo: rgrow@bmnet.com; histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.eduSubject: RE: [Histonet] RE: static electricity/humidity problemsHello Renee, this sounds good, I WILL try it:)Thanks a lot, "kiitos" as we say in finnish:)Tina-----Original Message-----From: rgrow@bmnet.com [mailto:rgrow@bmnet.com] Sent: Thursday, December 02, 2004 11:49 PMTo: histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.eduSubject: [Histonet] RE: static electricity/humidity problemsTina,There have been several good responses regarding static. Try them. Usewhat works best in your lab.Humidity is a big problem in the southern United States. Air conditioningsystems and de-humidifiers can't handle the load in old drafty buildings. Wehave solved this problem by adding silica gel crystals to our last absolutealcohol and first xylene in the dehydrating and clearing stations. This stephas been successfully used here for many years. It also extends the lifeof the reagents 2x. We order it from: Sigma Aldrich Company, Catalog #:21,444.2 Silica Gel 2.5 Kg. A word of caution: Do dispense and discardcarefully as it is a carcinogen.Good luck.Renee Grow, BA., HT (ASCP)rgrow@bmnet.comHistology SupervisorBlount Memorial Hospital907 E. When I have been workingin Germany for 10 years I never has this effect, but since I work in FinlandI am fighting with it every summer. So, if anyone has a solution to thehumidity problem, please share it with me:)Tina_______________________________________________Histonet mailing listHistonet@lists.utsouthwestern.eduhttp://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonet_______________________________________________Histonet mailing listHistonet@lists.utsouthwestern.eduhttp://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonetConfidentiality Notice ** The information contained in this message may be privileged and is confidential information intended for the use of the addressee listed above.
