Hi 
I have used apes slides with special stains such as masson's 
trichrome and tol. blue and have had no problem with the apes 
reacting with the stains.  Silver staining is a problem.  The slide 
is coated silver like a mirror.   It can be wiped off but it is 
irritating and messy and I am not sure whether it is giving me a 
lousy result. Going to try stain again with a few changes.
