color atlas

Just my 2 cents -

Human Histology
Alan Stevens and James Lowe
2nd ed
Mosby

I like it because it is geared towards what we as histotechs see and use in
a routine histology lab. Not all the details that can only be seen on EM and
never stained for with histology special stains or IM stains.

Good color drawings/diagrams, good H&E's and special stains, plus
"rectangles" of text that relate to pathology and disease.

In other words, if the chapter is on liver, in addition to the usual text on
the parts and cells of a liver, there are drawings of the 3D liver, drawings
of the cells, H&E's of overview of liver, and close ups of portal triads,
discussion of cirrhosis and the causes, and a trichrome of cirrhosis.

I had the Wheater last year, at the same time I bought a copy of the
Stevens/Lowe, and my students last year preferred to read the Stevens/Lowe.
