Fellow Histonetters,

I have a job opening in my GLP compliant lab.  The lab is a fast-growing, progressive private contract lab that caters to clients within biotechnology.  The lab specializes in medical devices, primarily vascular  and cardiac intervention.   Paraffin sectioning, ground histology and GMA microtomy are routinely processed in the lab.

The lab is currently located in Winnemucca Nevada but may be relocating to the Santa Clara/San Jose, California area in the near future.

DUTIES include routine paraffin processing,  knowledge of ground histology and experience with plastic protocols.  Incumbent will  be proficient in the preparation of staining reagents.  Incumbent will also assist in laboratory clean-up and equipment maintenance.  Record keeping assistance is also required.

REQUIREMENTS for the applicant include experience with plastics (MMA and GMA) and paraffin sectioning.  Staining includes routine H&E and special stains.  Must be able to communicate and take directions well and work as a team member.  ASCP certification required.  Previous experience in a GLP facility and immunohistochemistry is a plus.

EQUIPMENT USED routinely in the lab is the Well Diamond Wire Saw, Exakt automated grinder, automated rotary microtomes for sectioning the stents embedded in plastic, AO 820 microtome for paraffin sectioning.

DESIRABLE knowledge of Word and Excel is preferred.  These programs are used to generate slide labels and forms within the lab.

If you are looking for a challenging position where no day is the same, you will enjoy working in this lab.  If interested please call 775-625-4425 and ask for Cathy or if you prefer, fax your resume to 775-625-1548.
