Liver controls and bone marrow iron

From:Mary Latino

I did my thesis on copper staining in different liver
diseases and I used fetal liver for a positive
control. I found that the rhodanine stain gave more
consistent results, however orcein was more sensitive
to small concentrations found in some liver diseases
such as alcoholic cirrhosis.
Problems with iron staining in bone marrows often
occur with leaching from the decalcification
procedure. RDO decal has been known to do this.
