Josefa,
TTF stands for Thyroid Transcription Factor. TTF-1 is a member of a
family of nuclear regulatory proteins that is expressed almost
exclusively in lung and thyroid epithelium. TTF-1 is positive in lung
adenocarcinomas and lung neuroendocrine carcinomas, but NOT squamous cell
carcinomas. It is also positive in neuroendocrine carcinomas from
non-lung sites, as well as medullary thyroid carcinomas. However, it is
negative in other carcinomas, and thus can be useful in identifying
tumors of lung origin (within the appropriate clinical context, of
course). This antibody is available from NeoMarkers (phone 800-828-1628)
catalog # MS-699-P, and works very well on formalin tissue with HIER.
