We have had trouble also with slick floors in the histology lab and the hallways outside
of our labs. We also have put down carpet mats in the lab and hallway. But another thing
we have found that helps a lot is putting down sticky mats under and in front of our
embedding center. These are called Lo Count mats from VWR. I think they are intended for
use around computer equipment to keep out any dust and so on from sensitive equipment.
They are REALLY sticky and people nearly get stuck on them. We tell the good looking
visiting docs that we do it to keep them there. It really does clean our shoes off
before we drag the paraffin to other areas.
