At the VA in Des Moines, IA we only do two step sections on prostate core
biopsies. Then if further special staining or IHC procedures are necessary we
cut the block again. As a general rule, we only receive two containers from
each GU patient. One marked left and one marked right. Occasionally we will
get a third container marked nodule. Hope this helps!
