Out cytopathologist is complaining mildly about background staining on smears
prepared on our new cytology "Autocyte" instrument. When these smears are
stained on our Ventana immunohistochemistry stainer, some neutrophils and
polymorphs take up the DAB. We think the special fixative used with the
Autocyte is to blame but are not really sure. The Autocyte company is not too
forthcoming with information. Has anyone else experienced this problem or
know how to correct it? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
