AW: [Histonet] polyacids in trichrome stains

From:"Gudrun Lang"

I know John Kiernan's book and the chapter about trichromes.
But why has someone the idea that polyacids render the fibers coarse or
rough? This explanation is yet given to students. I am in doubt about it and
would like to disprove it with an experts' knowledge.

I seem to remember that Richard Horobin wrote a authoritative paper on this
subject more than a few years ago. Also, John Kiernan's textbook (and
website?) almost certainly offers an explanation.
