For TEM I would simply put a couple of drops of blood into 
the primary fixative. Agitate gently, leave for 30 minutes then spin 
down. Decant off the supernatant and replace with several buffer 
washes before the post fixative. Dehydrate and embed in epoxy resin. 
If the pellet started to breakdown during processing then another 
spin solved the problem.
