Thanks for the response.   We always use the absolute alcohol too, but I'd 
heard in the past that we should put an open dish of 37% formaldehyde in the 
closed cryostat overnight (after defrosting) to kill all  organisms.   And I 
remember long ago we used to use phenol.   So I wasn't sure if the alcohol alone 
was sufficient.
