RE: [Histonet] H&E/Alcian Blue

From:"Joe Nocito"

Jose,
we perform the Alcian Blue first, then use the H & E as a counterstain. We
haven't had any problems with the staining.

Subject: [Histonet] H&E/Alcian Blue

Dear all I would like to perform an H&E/Alcian blue staining to
differentiate bone and cartilage and I was wondering if I have to do the H&E
first and then AB or the contrary or maybe there is a protocole to this
staining technique. The acid AB solution will bleach the Hematoxylin?. If
the AB is used first why not call the technique AB/H&E instead of H&E/AB?
thanks in advance jose luis Universidad de Oriente-Isla
