Yep, blunted scalpel is what I use, although one of the other techs here
has an old kitchen knife with the top half of the blade gone....As for a
potential needle-stick type injury, well, this is true, but do you use
the implement for anything else? I mean, does it ever come in contact
with blood or body fluids? If it is used only to scrape blocks, then
the risks are hardly serious (other than a potential "owie"). And I'm
sure that you're attentive, and more than well-practiced at block
scraping - I often do it in my sleep, @ 5:30am. There are plenty of
hazards out there, let's keep this in perspective! Peace, Terre
