Hmm, tough one...
Dako and Kreatech supply type specific in situ hybridization kits either
singly or in cocktails of homologous types ie 6/11 or 16/18 etc. These would
probably be suitable for paraffin embedded tissue, although I cannot speak
from expereince. I certainly have done HPV ISH on paraffin embedded tissue
with good results (probes were kindly donated by a University in the UK). I
don't think that you would have to spend that much time working the kits up.
They are prediluted and are optimised with detection systems. Not all that
different to IHC really.
