ASCP Survey

From:Lee & Peggy Wenk

Just to let the US histonetters know -

The every-two-years wage and vacancy survey done by the ASCP Board of
Registry will be starting soon.

It will run the end of August through mid-to-end of October. The results
will be published in the March 2003 "Laboratory Medicine". And then
eventually on the ASCP BOR website.

Usually, the survey is from mid-July to mid-September, but they are running
it later, in the hopes that more people will be back from vacations, and
that labs won't be so short handed due to vacations. With (hopefully) more
people back, they are hoping to get more people to respond. The printed
results will still come out at the same time.

So, please, tell your supervisors and manager to look for this survey, and
stress with them the need to return it if they are one of the random 2500+
people that receive it.

Before histonetters ask:
- only supervisors/managers who are ASCP members will receive the survey.
This is because ASCP already has names and addresses. Keeps the cost down,
so they can send out more surveys.
- no, you cannot ask for a survey. That would defeat the "randomness" of
this survey.
- since ASCP is paying for the survey, ASCP is the one setting up the
conditions.
- one of the "perks" of being an ASCP member, and paying your dues, is that
A) you are funding surveys like this, and B) you may become a part of this
survey if you are a supervisor/manager
