I also had a problem with cytology slides and cornflaking using the
tissuetek coverslipper.  Since then i started bringing cytology slides to
the coverslipper in the xylene staining dish.  I quickly load the slides
onto the tissuetek and coverslip the slides.  This seems to have fixed the
problem.
