high school graduates
I feel I must comment on this. I am hearing such disparaging remarks about
HS graduates being histotechs. I am one of those HS graduates. I was
trained 29 years ago in a research facility for one year. We had classes
in anatomy, biology and hands on training. I took the registry one year
later and 10 years later when the HTL registry was formed I took it under
the grandfather clause. I manage a small hospital laboratory. And I am
very good at what I do. I will be the first one to admit I don't know the
theory behind every procedure but I am not afraid to ask questions when I
don't know something, so I can learn.
I am a supporter of the new education requirements for histology. I feel
we need them to lift our profession up to higher standards.
Just my 2 cents.
