Re: Delays in freezing muscle bx's

From:RSRICHMOND@aol.com

Sharon Allen, apparently in Canada, asks about transporting muscle biopsy
specimens great distances.

These specimens will withstand four to six hours in a moist chamber
surrounded by wet ice. You won't get good results having local pathologists
freeze them - they neither have the right equipment nor do they know the
technique.

The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP in Washington DC) has a great
deal of experience in transporting muscle biopsy specimens, and I would ask
them about it.
