RE: Alcian blue and Alizarin red on mouse skeletons

From:"Tarpley, John"

Teri,
I've done a similar stain on adult mice. The reference is Tarpley,
Biotechnic & Histochemistry, vol 74, no. 3 p 116-118. Instead of alizarin
red I used murexide. Send me your mailing address off list and I can send
you a reprint if you don't have access to the journal and the color plates.

Subject: Alcian blue and Alizarin red on mouse skeletons

Hi all!

I've obtained a procedure for performing Alcian blue and Alizarin red
staining on mouse embryo skeletons (thanks Robbin Newlin). However, one of
our investigators wants to do this procedure on an older mouse (days to
weeks old). Can anybody who has done this procedure give me any information
regarding its feasibility or chances of success?

Or, since this is research, you just try it and see?
