Ian,  I agree with Nancy. The One Step is a good stain and we use it often.  
We did shorten the procedure by microwaving 20 mls of the Bouin's for 10-15 
seconds.  Then we place the slides in the small staining container with the 
Bouin's in a 60C oven for 10-15 minutes.  Still looks great but in a few 
less minutes.  Best of Luck
