Dear Nancy and other Tissue-Tek II users:

Since you brought up the Tissue-Tek II, I have received permission from Bayer
post their "exit from Tissue-Tek II support" letter to the Histonet.   I hope
this is helpful to those who may not have received the original mailing.   I've
simply copied and pasted it into this message so as to not send an attachment.

Should there be degredation through transfer, feel free to send me a reply with
your request for a FAXed or mailed copy along with the appropriate information
and we'll get a copy sent to you.

Dear Microtome/ Cryostat Customer:

Our warranty records indicate that your laboratory may have a Tissue-TekR
Microtome/ Cryostat currently in service.  I am writing to inform you that
Corporation, Diagnostics Division can no longer provide product support for the
instrument to the standard of excellence you have come to expect.

Manufacturing of the Tissue-Tek Microtome/ Cryostat was discontinued in 1993
annual service agreements for the instrument were discontinued several years
ago.  As a result of our inability to obtain parts and components, we can no
longer guarantee the repair of the systems nor adequately maintain the
instrument exchange pool that supports your laboratory.

Effective May 1, 2000 Bayer Diagnostics will no longer provide telephone
support, instrument repair and refurbishment, time and materials billable
service coverage and Microtome loaners.  A very limited supply of the
Microtomes are available for purchase from Bayer Customer Service,

The following page lists several used equipment dealers who continue to support
the Tissue-Tek Microtome/ Cryostat and may be contacted for your instrument

This service change brings to a close all Histology/ Cytology product support
Bayer Diagnostics.  It does not affect the support you receive for any other
Bayer product.  You should continue to contact Bayer Customer Service
800-348-8100 for all Bayer ClinitekR, Hema-TekR and Diabetes instruments and
reagents issues.
