I am not aware of any elastin stain for thick sections.  I have tried many
different elastin stains on ground sections with no real success.  The
elastin fibers stain but the polymers pick up the iodine giving a brown
background which is not very pretty. If protocols have been developed it
probably is a "trade secret".
