Tora:

Humason (5th edition) recommends narcotizing echinoderms in fresh water or
sprinkling methanol on the surface of the water. Magnesium chloride or
sulfate can be added gradually. Then place the animal in mercuric chloride
- acetic acid......however no recipe or fixation time given. The reference
given is Moore, AR (1962) Collecting and preserving the developmental stages
of the Pacific coast bat starfish, Patria miniata. Ward's Bulletin 1.

Carol
