After reading all this, it is interesting to note those discontented with
science are from UK and Australia.  Maybe it is different in your
countries, excluding those who are happy with scientific careers, but it is
unfair to generalize and include everyone thousands of miles away.  

True, salaries could universally improve, and some are doing quite well, in
fact, more than just well in the United States.  But this is nothing new,
not even with careers that are not scientific!
