Fellow Histonetters-
Can anyone tell me if the KMNO4 filters used to filter out formalin fumes on
gross lab
stations (such as Shandon/Lipshaw's, MOPEC,MORTECH units) are considered
hazardous
waste ? They're potassium permanganate filters that absorb the formalin
fumes
when the stations are not ventilated into facility exhaust.
We're planning on purchasing 3-4 units by July '99 and may have to use the
filters
on some of the units.
Help ! I need a response ASAP as we're doing FY'00 budgets and will have to
budget
for disposal of these filters if they are hazardous waste.
Thanks so much !
Jude
