The CPT billing codes for Immunoperoxidase are 88342. You would charge the
ER as a 88342 and the PR as a 88342, the pathologist needs to mention each
antibody in the body of the report and if you can list the different
antibodies in your billing program, I would do that also, so that they would
print out as an ER and a PR, not simply as an 88342 x 2. The rule is that
you can charge for each antibody but only once per each separately
identifiable specimen. For example, you cannot charge two ER's on block #1
and block #2 of the same specimen.

The legislative committee will have an article in the next NSH in Action
trying to help out everyone with CPT codes. If anyone has any questions
that you would like to see addressed in the next issue, please let me know
and we will gladly try to address them. We do have a committee and we are
trying to make sure that we pass out the correct information, if anyone
would like to be on the committee, please let me know also. Thanks
