the first thing i did as lead tech in one of my former jobs was to ban
bunsen burners....
having recently met a tech who had been accidentally lit on fire (and
recieved 2nd and 3rd degree burns from it) by one, i thought (and still do)
they had no place in the modern histology lab.  she had gotten molten
paraffin on her arm and reached over the burner not realizing it was still
on (the tech who was supposed to have turned it of didn't quite get it all
the way off) and it ignited the paraffin.
not a fun way to spend the summer....
