There is more than one way to skin a cat. Foil printers are not the 
only solvent/stain resistant labels on the market. Surgipath (and 
perhaps others?) have a resistant label that worked fine on our dot 
matrix label printer. White labels did tend to have a pale blue shade 
to the background after staining but the writing was clear. You may 
also wish to consider doing away with labels altogether. There are a 
number of printers available that label the slide directly, making 
paper (or plastic) label unnecessary.
