I always label it with the "A" since you may not be sure more tissue on the specimen will be submitted.  With a small biopsy it probably doesn't matter, but I label it with the "A" for consistency.

We are in the process of changing how we label slides and blocks ...
here is the question at hand;

Should a single specimen, meaning on block one slide, be labeled
S08-01500-A or should it be labeled S08-01500.
