RE: [Histonet] What is your favorite frozen section fixative

From:"Bonner, Janet"

We use a mix of the two for FS fixative; 190cc 95% EtOH and 70cc NBF.

What is the fixation for? H&E or another stain for rapid diagnostic purposes?

For H&E frozen sections, 95% ethanol works fine but we also use neutral
buffered formalin. NBF, however, is not as FAST a fixative, but for
morphology purposes, we like it better than 95% ethanol.

For immunohistochemistry purposes, our fixation is MUCH different for
frozen sections.
