SEM of Hydrophilic Coating?

I would like to visualize (Scanning Electron Microscope) the cross-section of a hydrophilic polymer coated on stainless steel.  Of course, the polymer coating dehydrates and collapses when placed in vacuum.  Is there an embedding compound that I could use that would retain the physical characteristics of the hydrophilic polymer coating to be visualized on the cross-section?

I would appreciate your help in this area.
