Tell us more please.  Anything that removes wax is worth a look. Assuming
you mean paraffin wax.

Hi Cindy,

I forward you Tony's recent message. We are also refurbishing our lab and
will probably go for a non-slip flooring. I'll send you details but it is
basically a resin coating with small glass beads added that makes the floor
rough enough to be non-slip. Our on-site cleaners have a regime that uses
an enzyme to remove wax.

We have installed 3M's Safety-Walk matting (sometimes known as Safe-tique):

"3M?  Safety-Walk? Medium Profile Cushion Mat 3600, Yellow Beveled Edging
on 2 sides,  35 in x 5 ft, 1/cs

Durable, medium profile foamed vinyl mat designed to provide anti-fatigue
and anti-slip properties. The open construction allows  liquids and small
solids to run easily through the mat. Yellow beveled edging on  2 sides, 1
per case.

It is quite expensive so we  only placed it around the microtomy and
embedding areas. The wax shavings get trapped between the ridges of the
matt and can be easily vacuumed up at  the end of the day. We recommend it

We are in the process of  planning for a new lab.  I was wondering what
type of flooring other  labs are using.  Do you have non-slip flooring? If
so, do you   encounter any problems cleaning the paraffin off the surface?
Can it be scraped? How are they to clean? Do you have  anti-fatigue mats?
We have grossing area, embedding area, special   stains,
Immunohistochemistry, and a main cutting area to  consider.

Any thoughts would be  appreciated!
