RE: Re-Pathology assistants log book/assessment

From:"Charles.Embrey"

Are you talking about Pathologists' Assistants? As far as they're concerned
it is currently left to the pathologist as to their assessment of
competency. Bottom line, a pathologists' assistant or grossing tech's
competency is the subjective assessment of the pathologist signing out the
case. My annual assessment is a 5 page report filled out by the five
pathologist I gross and provide autopsy prosection services for. It
includes my grossing, photography, autopsy and management activities as well
as my participation in tumor board, teaching of residents, and teaching at
conference. It gets a little complicated.

Subject: Re-Pathology assistants log book/assessment

Sorry message should have read

 Dear All
Could someone give me information regarding Pathology Assistants and how
they are assessed. Is there a log book and any assessment program available
on-line. I am interested in how the assessment is carried out ,for instance
do you have to do a number of the same type of specimen under supervision
before you are assessed for competence.
 Thanking you in advance
