Heir and section damage

Interested in others XPerience with Fernando's query re adverse effect on
occassional sections after citrate HEIR citrate pH 6 . I sometimes find the
same but doesn't happen consistently. Have varied the pH from 5 to 7 and
doesn't make a difference. I understand the "acid hydrolysis" explanation,
but why is it inconsistent? Surely "alkaline hydrolysis" would also occur
after HEIR using TRIS pH 10 ( which I also use with never any such effects
on the sections). be most interested in explanations.....or even
hypotheses( did I spell that correctly?),
