Re: hematoxylin counterstain on IHC
Hi Ronnie,
This type of hematoxylin staining (or lack of) happens on the specimens
that were poorly (short) fixed in 10% NBF or fixed in an alcoholic fixative,
when the section is consequently pre-treated for immunohistochemistry by
either proteolytic enzyme or HIER. Check to see, if the cases not staining
well had a pre-treatment done.
Also you might have a better success with a stonger hematoxylin solution
eg. Harris, Gills).
