Peggy Wenk reported using search engines to try to identify a histologic
fixative called Fixol. She found even more liquid products than I did, but
nothing at all likely to be used as a fixative.
Oh, I don't know. At one hospital I work at, the obstetrical nurses took to
fixing placentas in a pine-scented floor-grinding solvent. Actually didn't
work too badly as a fixative, though placentas are rather forgiving.
I think this liquid was designed to be used in one of those Zambonis that
grind floors in the hospital, with one operator and one zombie behind him
with a mop.
