Hi Ian,
I have been doing some ISH on shrimps (prawns to you and me)
for the College of Agriculture and the fixative of choice has been Davidson's.
Fix in Davidson's for 48 hours and then transfer to 70% alcohol until you are
ready to process. In my experience, the cutcicle is easily cut after being in
the fixative for 48 hours without any damge to the DNA.
